Background on Mark Collett

Mark began studying Martial Arts in 1985. He practiced and graded in styles including Wing Chun, Hung Gar, Lau Gar Kung Fu and Western kickboxing. He also studied Japanese styles including traditional Ju Jitsu (TJK) before taking up Mixed Martial Arts in 2001.

Mark has competed in a total of 13 MMA contests at amateur, semi professional and profession level, taking his first bout aged 33 and last aged 39.

He performed a demonstration bout at the UFC 38 press conference in London in April 2002 with training partner Paul Sutherland.

He began working as a Judge for the Ultimate Fighting Championships in 2011 and to date worked in UK, Brazil, Australia, China and Sweden. This included 3 Ultimate Fighter international TV series, TUF Brazil 1 & 2 and TUF Australia (The Smashes). Mark also officiates for various other UK promotions including Ultimate Impact and Fight UK.

Mark is a level 3 qualified Fitness Coach and Massage Therapist (since 1998). He previously owned a personal training business before becoming co-owner of Fighting Fit Martial Arts.

Mark began coaching at Fighting Fit in 2008 after meeting co founder Tony Terranova. He became a partner in the business shortly after seeing the potential of Tony's unique holistic long term vision for the club.

Mark continues to train regularly in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, (has trained for two 6 week periods in Sao Paulo, Brazil) Muay Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts. He believes in leading by example as a coach by staying fit, healthy and up to date with the on going evolution of MMA. He is passionate about helping students grow within BJJ/MMA and believes that the skills and confidence they gain can be transferable to other areas within their lives.
