From an early age Joe loved all sports including football, squash and golf. At fifteen (15) he became the youngest ever golf club champion at his local club. He started his training in the Martial Arts in Taekwondo at age of ten (10) and was awarded his 1st Dan by the time he was seventeen (17). He took part in many Taekwondo competitions winning several medals for both kumite and kata. Joe has been coaching students since he was a teenager.

Having met Tony Terranova (Co-founder of FFMA) at a local club martial arts club, the two formed a training bond that exists to this day. When FFMA was opened it was not long before Joe offered his services to coach. During the first three (3) years of the club being opened Joe has trained privately and consistently with Tony at least three (3) times a week (and sometimes more). He has a complete insight into the FFMA syllabus having drilled and pressure tested it full contact with Tony many times.

In mid 2008 he completed Matty Evans and Tony Somers self protection course. Matty and Tony are well respected BCA coaches and martial artists. Later in the year he also passed his brown belt grading in the FFMA system and is currently training for this black belt (1st Dan).

With over three (3) years of coaching experience at FFMA, Joe is now one of our boxing/MMA stand up coaches. He specializes on aspects of boxing due to his natural fast hand speed and excellent footwork. Joe often trains outside the club to gain extra experience and ring time in preparation for his amateur boxing fights.

He is passionate about fitness making sure that all his coaching sessions have an element of conditioning training integrated into the martial arts lesson. Whilst he is one of FFMA's youngest coaches he exhibits a wisdom and expertise of training normally shown by much older teachers.

Joe is a local and currently runs his own successful business in Cheltenham.
