After doing some martial arts research Tony Terranova found that students often lost interest in their training system which resulted in a lack of motivation to continue training. Inspired by Peter Consterdine's training day DVD's, Master Sken's style of Muay Thai and the new era of MMA, he decided he wanted to develop a method which incorporated practical skills and fulfilled some of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of modern day living. He then documented his own preferred training methods and Fighting Fit Martial Arts was opened in January 2007 and affiliated to the British Combat Association (BCA).
Today he feels privileged to have the following martial artists as his mentors: Peter Consterdine, Geoff Thompson, Master Sken, John B Will and Chico Mendes.
From the early beginnings Tony gives much credit to his daughter Emma and coach Joe Viall who have coached and supported the club from the first week it started. He is also acknowledges Alan Macdonald who helped him start up FFMA and has now moved on to pursue other interests. Mark Collett joined shortly after the club was established and today plays a major role as a coach and co-owner.
